The administration of Dubasari district in the Transnistrian region has begun works to reinforce a dike near Dzerzhinskoe village which is posing major threats after developing fissures back in 2008 when water levels hit a critical mark due to heavy floods, the local press reported. To avoid a disaster, the administration decided to consolidate the structure by adding a 60cm to 100cm thick layer across the length of the dike which measures nearly 4 kilometers. Dubasari District Council head Eduard Kantselevich said the repair will cost 250,000 rubles ($22,420) and works are expected to be completed by the end of next week.
