During 11 months, ECCCC uncovered 892 offenses

During 11 months of this year, the Economic Crimes and Corruption Combating Center (ECCCC) uncovered 892 offenses, including 234 corruption and corruption-related acts, and 429 economic infractions. The damage are assessed at 55.33 million lei, 21.34 million being returned, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The assets sequestered amount to 21.9 million lei, that is 78.6% of the total amount of the uncovered damages, reads a communique by the ECCCC.
During operations, 40 persons have been arrested caught red-handed. The courts allowed 35 persons to be arrested.
Goods sold illegally amounting to 3.3 million lei, including tobacco products, gold and silver, computers and other things, have been impounded.
During 11 months, the Anti-Corruption squad focused on its priority goals: executing the measures provided in the Government’s Program “Progress and Integration,” the Plan for implementing the national development Strategy for 2008-2011, the national Strategy for preventing and fighting corruption, and other national programs, and improving the cooperation with the public administration bodies and with the non-governmental organizations in order to prevent and fight corruption, economic and financial crimes, money laundering and financing terror.
