The Cabinet approved the appointment of Dumitru Obadă as Government Agent for the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) staring with June 14. At the moment, Dumitru Obadă heads the Crime Analysis Unit of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the permanent commission for training under the Superior Council of Prosecutors, IPN reports.

“Evidently, this is a loss for the Prosecutor General’s Office, but I’m convinced that this is a good candidate for the post of Government Agent. His national and international practical experience, teaching and research activity will enable him to successfully fulfill his duties of Government Agent and to represent with dignity the Republic of Moldova at the European Court of Human Rights,” said Minister of Justice Sergiu Litvinenco, being quoted in a press release of the Government.

Dumitru Obadă had worked for over 11 years as a prosecutor at the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and the Prosecutor General’s Office. He also taught at the State University of Moldova and at the National Institute of Justice and cooperated with a number of international institutions, such as the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the Organization for Security and Cooperation Europe and Interpol.
