Poet Dumitru Matcovschi will have a bust on the Classical Writers Alley in Chisinau. Such a proposal was submitted by Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, IPN reports.
In the July 1 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, the mayor asked drawing up all the necessary documents by the next meeting of the Municipal Council. The municipality will also identity streets and institutions that will bear the poet’s name and will assess the costs for casting Dumitru Matcovschi’s bust in bronze.
Constructions Division head Roman Sofroni said the costs for the pedestal alone will amount to 250,000 lei.
Dumitru Matcovschi passed away on July 26 at the age of 73. The poet was buried in his native village Vadul Rascov of Soldanesti district on July 29.
