President Nicolae Timofti signed a decree to confer the Order of the Republic on Democratic MP Dumitru Diacov, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the presidential press service, the order is awarded in gratitude for Dumitru Diacov’s contribution to strengthening Moldova’s statehood, building the rule of law, promoting the Democratic values and to establishing cohesions and concord in society.
Dumitru Diacov had headed the Democratic Party since 2000 until 2009 and then offered the post of chairman to Marian Lupu, becoming instead the president of honor.
