The Republic of Moldova does not have special shortcomings on the European segment, president of honor of the Democratic Party of Moldova Dumitru Diacov was quoted by IPN as saying in the program “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel.

According to him, Moldovan authorities’ last contacts with Brussels had a rather optimistic note. Brussels is very attentive to the list of commitments assumed by the Republic of Moldova. It is important that there are no special shortcomings that would show a negative position of the government on the European integration segment. “We do not have such matters, but the fact that there are problems that the sides discuss in a constructive way is something normal,” said Dumitru Diacov, referring to Moldovan authorities’ discussions with representatives of the European Union.

The Democratic heavyweight said the Republic of Moldova has to work in all the areas of activity and there are no ideal areas. “We are also interested in having principled, open discussions as this ultimately helps us too to more clearly see the issues on which we should concentrate our attention,” he stated.

Asked about the defections by MPs from one party to another, the politician said he does not like such a process, but, given that it is not banned by the legislation, this cannot be condemned. “The MPs do not leave the groups without reasons. They leave because they cannot distinguish themselves given that the party does not have the same influence. The people want to develop,” noted Dumitru Diacov.

He added that after this year’s parliamentary elections the Democratic Party will definitely enter the next legislative body. Furthermore, it will take part in the negotiations on the formation of a parliamentary alliance.
