Moldova is a captive state and the political class should sit at the negotiating table to put things right, the president of honor of the Democratic Party (PDM) Dumitru Diacov said in the program “Interpol” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.

Dumitru Diacov stated that he is ashamed of what is happening now in Moldova. “Even if I admit that Moldova is a captive state, this does not mean that things will change. I discussed recently with Vladimir Voronin. It’s hard for me to accept the reality. We have worked for 24 years and didn’t achieve what we wanted. I support the people who took to the streets and ask for a better life. If I had been an ordinary person, I would have protested too. The politicians should come together and discuss the situation so as to see how we can remedy it. The leaving of the government is not a solution. Who can replace the current government now?” he asked.

The heavyweight of the PDM considers the current state of affairs is due to the instability of the political parties and the dissension indie the ruling alliance. “Everyone struggles for power. But I still hope that we can put things right in the country. I see no problem in the PDM discussing with Voronin and with Ghimpu. We must do something. We need political stability,” stated Diacov.

He admitted that there are disagreements inside the PDM and that he personally not always agrees with the taken decisions. ”Some of the decisions are discussed with me, while others are not. I’m often in the opposition in the party and become involved in heated debates with some of my colleagues. I told them not only once that we must be very attentive to the people’s voice,” said the president of honor of the PDM.

Dumitru Diacov voiced hope that the political class will show responsibility in the next presidential elections. “I hope they will understand that the previous experiences can no longer be repeated. It’s good that the current President didn’t become involved in political conflicts,” he stated.
