People living in Dubasari district request taking away the peacekeeping post set up near Vadul lui Voda town within three days.
“We demand that the military man who killed Vadim Pisari be held accountable, the so-called customs post set up at the crossroads near Pirita village be removed, while the rest of the peacekeeping posts in the Security Zone be replaced by civil missions without military men,” Mayor of Pirita Iurie Soltan stated for Info-Prim Neo.
The demands were submitted to the Moldovan authorities and the Russian Embassy in Chisinau. The mayor stressed that if their demands are not fulfilled, they will stage new protests.
Vadim Pisari, who was wounded mortally by a Russian peacekeeper on January 1, was buried at the cemetery in his village Pirita on January 4. According to the mayor, the funeral took place without provocations.
Among the officials who attended the funeral were the head of Dubasari district Grigore Polichinski and Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, who delivered speeches after the burial. Priests from Cosnita and Pirita held a commemoration service for the killed young man and for the victims of the Nistru war.
After the tragic January 1 incident, the Unified Military Command decided to reduce the personnel of peacekeeping post No. 9 from seven to four and to unarm them. The peacekeepers will only monitor the situation in the perimeter of the post.
