A drug addict alarmed the residents of Bubuieci village, the administration of the Ministry of the Interior and the Emergency Service this morning, threatening to kill himself and the hostages if they do not satisfy his demands. Ala Meleca, the spokeswoman for the Ministry of the Interior, has told Info-Prim Neo that the addict, who has been taking drugs for 11 years, at about 7.30 on May 6 announced that he would blow up an explosive device if the legal case instituted against him over the use and distribution of drugs is not closed. He said that he took people hostage in a house where he barricaded himself. Officials of the Home Ministry, an ambulance and employees of other law enforcement agencies traveled to the scene. The operation was completed at about 10.00. Meleca said that there were no hostages in the house. The blackmailer was arrested. Eyewitnesses say that many police officers came to the scene. At a certain moment, a police car entered the yard of the house so that no one could see who the arrested was. Also, the eyewitnesses were warned not to tell what they saw.
