Drochia sheriff killed in car crash

Andrei Gradinari, Police Commissar of Drochia district, died in a severe traffic accident on Soroca-Costesti roadway Saturday to Sunday night, the Prosecutor General's Office said today in a press release, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Two of the three occupants of the car have sustained serious injuries. These are Alexandru Gisca, a senior Interior Ministry officer, and his wife, who were admitted to the district hospital. Driving the car was the Commissar. According to Drochia's deputy prosecutor Anatol Banaru, preliminary investigations showed the driver lost control of the vehicle, which left the carriageway and crashed into a tree. The case is handled by the Drochia prosecutors. The causes why the commissar lost steering and caused the accident are still unclear, but investigators said the road was dry and visibility conditions good.
