Driver without license kills pedestrian by pulling him almost 2 km by car

An 18-year-old man was struck by a car on a street in Floresti town and pulled by the vehicle on a distance of almost 2 km. Abandoned by the driver in a pool of blood, the young man didn’t survive. He died shortly after being taken to the hospital. The police arrested a suspect.

Contacted by IPN, press officer of the National Patrolling Inspectorate Uliana Catan said fragments of the victim’s cellphone were discovered at a distance of approximately 2 km of the place where the young man was found. Shortly afterward, the police found the car involved in the accident in Ivanovca village of the same district. It was established that when the accident happened, the car was driven by a man aged 29 who does not have a driver’s license.

The suspect was placed under arrest for 72 hours. He faces two to seven years in jail for striking the pedestrian and another two years for leaving the place of the accident.

The General Police Inspectorate warns the motorists to immediately inform the competent services in case of an accident with serious consequences and not to leave the place until these arrive.
