The driver who struck a cart from behind with his car, causing the death of four persons and injuring another two, is a prosecutor. He was detained. The information was confirmed for IPN by Violina Moraru, PR manager of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

In the case of the accident that occurred in Bahmut village of Călărași district, legal action was taken over violation of the traffic rules by a person who caused the death of a number of persons out of imprudence.

“As it was determined that the car was driven by a prosecutor, legal action was taken by the acting prosecutor general and the investigation will be conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases by constituting an investigation group consisting of a prosecutor and an investigating officer. The driver was arrested and remand detention will be asked for him,” stated Violina Moraru.

A three-month-old child, a 30-year-old man and two women aged 38 and 64 died as a result of the collision. The baby and the 64-year-old woman died on the spot, while the 38-year-old woman died on the way to the hospital. The man aged 30 passed away in the hospital even if doctors resuscitated and intubated him.

Two more persons suffered injuries and were hospitalized. A 63-year-old man suffered associated trauma, traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures and is now under intensive care. A four-year-old girl also suffered multiple fractures, a concussion and associated trauma. She was taken to the Mother and Child Institute in Chisinau by the Aviasan Service on Friday evening.
