The driver who was found guilty of causing the accident on the Cimislia – Valea Perjei road in August 2010, which resulted in four deaths, was sentenced to seven years behind bars, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the man was driving a minibus under the influence. Between the villages Valea-Perjei and Ecaterinovca, he suddenly changed lanes and collided head-on with a vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

As a result of the impact, four people died on the spot, while another three, including the driver, were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. After being discharged from the hospital, the man disappeared. He was caught at the end of July.

The statistics of the Prosecutor General’s Office show that 21 persons have been jailed so far this year for not respecting traffic rules.
