The driver who struck a young female student by his car in a crosswalk in 2021 was given a three-year suspended sentence by the Buiucani Court of Chisinau. The prosecutors intend to challenge the sentence as too mild, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the culprit admitted that he violated the traffic rules and caused serious bodily injuries to the girl out of imprudence. The court also obliged the man to pay 500,000 lei damages to the victim.
Driving a car along Valea Crucii St from the direction of Dacia St in Chisinau, the man hit the girl who was crossing the street legally, in a sidewalk.
The sentence is not definitive and can be disputed in the Chisinau Appeals Court within 15 days.
