Drinking water lab extends analysis methods

The administration of SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” has announced that the drinking water laboratory is extending its analysis and control methods following the purchase of high-precision equipment last year, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the company.

The two laboratories managed by the water supplier – the lab of the Nistru Station and the drinking water lab – will do tests on about 70 components. The drinking water lab us now using 37 validated analytical methods. Eleven more methods will be added.

A number of 124 of the over 25,800 drinking water samples taken from the network of the municipal centralized water supply system in 2013 turned out to be inappropriate. The percentage of samples of unfit water was of only 0.54% as regards the physical-chemical indicators and of 0.51% as regards the microbacteriological indicators, the norm being 5%.
