The conflict in Drepcauti village of Briceni district appeared after a business entity refused to fulfill its obligations to land owners. Villagers went to court and ask that they should be given back their land. Land owners from Drepcauti and Mayor Ghenadie Ioxa made such statements in a news conference at IPN.

According to the mayor, the firm “Drebozaci” took over the property of the former kolkhoz “Lenin”. The people’s property was transferred to SRL “Drebozaci”. Ex-mayor of the village Larisa Ciobanu offered the owners to sell their land for 10% of its real value. The people refused, but in the meeting held then signed that they received buckwheat. The lists signed by them were yet used for other purposes. During 17 years, the land and property of those from Drepcauti had been used by the firm. Now the owners claim rights, but the firm refuses to satisfy their requests.

Ghenadie Ioxa said “Drebozaci” took out loans from Moldinconbank, pledging the people’s land, the cannery, mill, bakery and equipment.  The money was used to repay older debts to companies based in Chisinau and to buy machinery.

Now a part of the villages complain that they are not allowed to use their own land that was leased out to the firm based on false contracts that the owners didn’t sign. On the other hand, the investor says the lease was terminated before time.

Land owner Valentina Brega said the firm pays 600 kg of wheat to her for a plot that is 1.6 ha in area. She didn’t sign the lease and someone else did it in her place. She is the owner of the land, but has to defend her rights in court as she was sued based on false contracts.

Villager Vera Covalciuc complained that she wants to sign over the land to her children, but cannot do it because the disputed land was confiscated. The firm “Drebozaci” threatened elderly people from Drepcauti that their pension will be cut if they do not lease out the land to this company.

Land owner Veaceslav Rusnac said his mother owns two plots of 3.2 ha and “Drebozaci” prevents them from cultivating the land as they want. A number of 95 land owners are in litigation with the business entity that appropriated their land.

“We only want “Drebozaci” to pay what it should to the land owners and ask nothing more,” said Mayor Ghenadie Ioxa.

According to idno.md, the limited liability company “Drebozaci” based in Briceni is managed by Igor Cernei and Dukach Volodymyr.
