Some 90% of the broadcasters presented the general concepts from which they excluded the programs stipulated by the “anti-propaganda” law and substituted these with own programs or programs produced in countries that ratified the European Convention on Transfrontier Television, chairman of the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) Dragos Vicol stated in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
“Now our exercise is very simple. We must see if what was written on paper is real. Surprise inspections and monitoring activities will follow immediately,” said Dragos Vicol. According to him, the cable TV broadcasters also presented information about the exclusion of particular TV channels from their broadcast lists. “In the nearest future, we will have a clear picture of the effects of this law,” added the BCC chairman.
Sergiu Ostaf, director of the Resource Center for Human Rights, said the law sets down very clear rules for broadcasters and for the regulatory authority. “In my opinion, this law was very well formulated,” he stated.
The law to amend the Broadcasting Code, which is also called the “anti-propaganda law”, took effect on February 12. Under this law, it is allowed transmitting only news, feature, military and political radio and television programs produced in the EU member states, the U.S., Canada and in the states that ratified the European Convention on Transfrontier Television.
