Draft Natural Hazards Management and Climate Change Adaptation Strategy to be debated in Cahul

The Business Consulting Institute will hold in on Thursday, September 4, public debates on the Draft Natural Hazards Management and Climate Change Adaptation Strategy, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a press release, the organizers say that the number of weather-induced hazards and their degree have significantly increased lately. An integrated approach to the management of weather hazards and adverse effects is needed in order to reduce the vulnerability of the Republic of Moldova and minimize human, economic and financial losses caused by natural and anthropological factors. The debates are held in the framework of the World Bank-financed “Natural Hazards Management and Climate Change Adaptation Strategy” Project. The debates will be attended by central and local authorities, representatives of research institutions, businessmen, farmers and NGO representatives. Among the actions to be taken will be to keep emissions of hothouse gases low, to capitalize on the opportunities brought by the climate change, and to raise public awareness of the problems related to natural hazards.
