The lawmakers annulled the tax of 2.5% on mobile phone services as from January 1, 2022 in a move to help mobile phone carriers accelerate the implementation of roaming with the EU member states. This is provided in the draft fiscal and customs policy for 2022 that was given a second reading and was adopted by the votes of 54 MPs. In accordance with the same document, the tax rate on earnings retained at the source of payment from gambling revenue is increased from 12% to 18%, IPN reports.

The draft fiscal and customs policy contains amendments to 13 laws. The personal exemption is raised from 25,200 to 27,000 lei, the major personal exemption – from 30,000 to 31,500 lei, while the exemption for maintained persons is doubled from 4,500 lei to 9,000 lei.

The road tax revenues will be entirely directed to town administrative units of the first level, while the minimum salary is raised from 2,200 to 3,100 lei in the public sector.
