The citizens in the municipality of Chisinau will be able to file collective petitions for solving local problems. A decision to this effect was drafted by the MPs and Chisinau councilors of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) and was proposed for public debates, IPN reports.
PAS municipal councilor Dumitru Ivanov in a press beefing said that about 2,000 citizens of Chisinau earlier submitted a collective petition about public transport to the Chisinau City Hall, but this wasn’t dealt with. Mayor Ion Ceban only made a statement about this on TV.
According to the councilor, the draft decision provides that the people will be able to form groups of five persons and, if they manage to collect 1,000 signatures about a particular local problem during 60 days, they wool be able to file a collective petition to the local public authorities. “We will insist that this problem should be debated by the Municipal Council,” said Dumitru Ivanov.
PAS MP Radu Marian said the decision will be implemented in the municipality of Chisinau initially and will be later extended nationwide.
