Fifty-one illegally erected levees in different parts of the country have been demolished in the past month. The constructions limited citizens’ access to water and changed the natural course of the rivers, says the Ministry of the Environment.
Nine levees were demolished on the Ciulucul Mare river, in the towns of Bilicenii Vechi, Sângerei and Copăceni, and four levees were removed on the Ialpugel river. Levees built illegally on the rivers Draghiste, Ciuhur, Ciorna and Ichel were removed as well, according to a press release quoted by IPN.
The Ministry of the Environment asks members of the public to notify the Environmental Protection Inspectorate if they encounter suspicious constructions on rivers.
