Dozens of vehicles remained blocked on roads owing to the thick layer of snow that formed yesterday and last night. According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, 35 units of transport, including two ambulances, that got stuck on the road had been unblocked, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Service’s press officer Liliana Puscasu told a news conference that two buses with 40 persons on got stuck in Soroca, while 10 vehicles remained blocked in Varnita and Tipalova. After about an hour, the rescuers towed away the vehicles. Eight persons remained blocked in a minibus on the Puhopi-Cainari-Salcuta road. In Causeni, the bus running on the Chisinau-Talmaza route, with 26 passengers on, could continue its way only after the rescuers intervened. A car with three person on, one of whom a child, broke down on the Chisinau–Causeni road. The rescuers towed the car up to the destination.
Seven serious road accidents that resulted in 9 persons injured happened during 24 hours. Another 181 traffic accidents, 142 of which in Chisinau, caused no victims. The yellow code advisory for snow and blizzard conditions was extended for January 26 and 27. The wind on January 27 will intensify to 15-20 meters per second.
Currently, there are no national roads impassable. A number of local roads yet are still blocked, including in 14 settlements of Leova districts and in 8 settlements of Anenii Noi district. Four villages in Causeni, Taraclia, and Basarabeasca districts remain partially disconnected from the power supply.
