Downed trees and communities in blackout after July 25 rainstorm

The rainstorm of July 25 left trees downed and 56 communities all over Moldova without electricity. The police intervened to unblock the roads in such districts as Briceni, Edinet, Anenii Noi and Dubasari and in Chisinau, IPN reports.

According to Gas Natural Fenosa in Moldova, 56 villages in the districts of Ialoveni, Causeni, Hancesti, Comrat, Cahul, Cantemir, Vulcanesti, Taraclia, Cimislia and Ceadar-Lunga and Chisinau municipality were partially or fully disconnected from the power supply. Operational teams of the company and of local entrepreneurs were mobilized to repair the power lines and restore the supply.

Press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Liliana Puscasu has told IPN that no request to intervene has been made to the Service so far and no damage has been yet reported.

The State Hydrometeorological Service forecast rain with thunder and lightning until this Saturday, July 29.
