The assistance provided by the European Union to the Transnistrian region is free of charge, but a number of conditions must be met to benefit from it, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said in an online broadcast. He stressed the importance of the given support, noting that the citizens on the left bank of the Nistru suffered due to the shortage of electricity, water and heat, and the European Union came up with a saving solution, IPN reports.

The European Union offered Moldova €30 million emergency aid, of which €20 million can be used to purchase gas for the left bank of the Nistru.

This assistance is free of charge. "We agreed with the EU to grant this aid, and the condition was very simple: that it reaches the citizens, without this natural gas going to large industrial consumers, to crypto farms," said Premier Recean.

To ensure compliance with this condition, the authorities monitor the use of the supplied energy. "Every 2-3 days, teams from the right bank of the Nistru go and check the observance of the conditions. And the condition is that energy should be offered only to citizens and businesses that produce food products," stated Dorin Recean.

In addition to this support, the European Union offered an extra €60 million for the Transnistrian region. But significant progress is required to benefit from this aid.

"The first condition refers to the fundamental rights and freedoms. The adjustment of the pricing mechanism is another condition. Moreover, large industrial consumers, companies that export, must immediately start paying the market price," said the official.

Also, the European Union offered Moldova €151 million to compensate the citizens for the higher electricity charges. So, for the first 110 KWh of power consumed, the people will pay the price applied before December 2025.
