The Republic of Moldova faces a hybrid war and the security elements are a priority for the current Government, said Prime Minister Dorin Recean. According to him, Moscow tries to thwart the European course of the Republic of Moldova and the authorities will show irresponsibility if they ignore these attempts. The proposal to take over the Government was made to him by President Maia Sandu, while the government team was formed as a result of broad discussions with each member of the Gavrilița Cabinet, IPN reports.

“I discussed with each member of the Cabinet. I have confidence in each member of my team. I clearly defined the three priorities. We need to institute public order and discipline in state institutions so as to revitalize the economy. We must be very vigilant and ensure peace and stability in the country,” Dorin Recean stated in the program “Good Evening” on the public TV channel.

The Premier avoided clearly saying why ex-minister of justice Sergiu Litvinenco is not part of his team, but noted that the current minister of justice will accelerate the process of cleaning the system.

“Minister Litvinenco developed a very good reform together with the team of the Ministry of Justice. This reform should ensure integrity in the justice sector. The minister of justice thought up a very good reform. We banked on the fact that the judges, prosecutors will realize that times have changed and will implement this reform strategy. But we are there where we are owing to sabotage. The Ministry led by Veronica Mihailov will accelerate the cleanup process and will introduce instruments to encourage the honest people,” said Dorin Recean.

The Premier noted that the persons who since last summer have tried to destabilize the situation in Moldova stepped up efforts, but the state institutions are ready to intervene to ensure national security and the citizens’ safety.

“We face a hybrid war in Moldova. Russia tries to thwart the democratic processes, the European course of the Republic of Moldova. We cannot hide behind our finger and say that the dangers are not real. It would be irresponsible to ignore the dangers and to mislead society. We passed the acute phase of these dangers in autumn, when the institutions very well fulfilled their duties and we now have peace and stability in the country. But the efforts have been resumed and the dangers are growing. Respectively, the institutions get ready to cope with the dangers,” stated the official.

Dorin Recean also said that his first visit abroad will be paid to Bucharest. After his investiture, he had a telephone conversation with his Romanian counterpart Nicolae Ciucă who invited him to visit Bucharest to discuss details of the intergovernmental cooperation.
