Prime Minister Dorin Recean met with representatives of the Moldovan diaspora in Greece. They discussed the support programs intended for citizens who want to return home, the country’s economic development and the combination of efforts in the process of joining the European Union, IPN reports.

“In Athens, I met with Mrs. Lucia, who was among the first Moldovans to move to Greece. Away from home for so many years, she remains connected to the situation in the country and interested in what is happening at home. Together with several of our compatriots in Athens, we discussed ways to build a developed and modern European Moldova, the educational and medical systems and the reforms we need to implement in order to ensure good living conditions for all the citizens,” said the head of the executive.

Also, Premier Dorin Recean expressed his gratitude for the promotion of national traditions and values and conferred the Government’s Diploma of Honor on the founder and conductor of the diaspora choir in the Hellenic Republic “Dor de Doina”, Dina Izbishchuk-Sova.

More than 7,400 Moldovan citizens are officially registered in Greece.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean is paying a working visit to Greece during July 1-2. On Tuesday, the Moldovan official will meet with the President of the Hellenic Republic Ekaterini Sakellaropoulou and his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Together with the Greek Prime Minister, Dorin Recean will take part in the signing of the dgreement on mutual recognition and conversion of driving licenses.

Premier Recean will also deliver a speech at the 28th Annual Economist Government Roundtable.
