Ivan Gusan, alias Patron, was arrested by the police in Romania. He was the last thief in law in Moldova who was at large, Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean said in a news conference, quoted by IPN.
Dorin Recean said the operation to catch the criminal began in November 2012. In the period, there were identified and arrested a number of persons suspected of smuggling, counterfeiting of tobacco products and money laundering. The cigarettes were made in Romania and sold in the EU.
Dorin Recean said that Ion Gusan was the head of a criminal group that committed crimes against Moldovan citizens in the country and abroad.
