It is important for digitization to benefit the people and organizations. Digitalization should produce opportunities and should dramatically reduce the cost of transactions and this means that each experience that can be digital should be digitized. Moldova is now sufficiently mature in the IT sector and in the wine industry to share its experience in both of the fields, Prime Minister Dorin Recean stated in the Moldova Digital Summit.

According to him,
digitalization should center on the clients and their experience in this sector. “For the Government, it is very important that digitization should bring increased transparency, not only greater responsibility for the Government. It should do so that the people easier become involved in the Government’s work, in governance, in different processes. This thing should be stimulated to ensure the citizens’ broader participation in society,” said Premier Recean.

He noted that digitization should take place in a safe environment. “I think we can have a separate summit about cybersecurity and cyberculture and how we can make the digitization sector as safe as possible for all those who use it,” said the official.

Laura Hruby, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau, said that the Moldova Digital Summit is a global event that positions Moldova as a leader in this realm in the region, which plays a crucial role for the ICT sector of Moldova. “The U.S. works in partnership with Moldova to build a prosperous and democratic future. Digital plays a very important role in that future, with entrepreneurship and innovation offering a very big potential for attracting investments, creating jobs and persuading the young people to continue their life and career right here, in Moldova,” stated Laura Hruby.

“We regard Moldova as a part of the family of the European Union. We consider the future will be promising for Moldova after it accedes to the European Union. The accession process already brings very tangible benefits. Modern technology forms part of our daily life. We are very glad to see the progress made by Moldova in electronic services, education and business skills. The European Union is committed to support the digital path of the Republic of Moldova,” said Jānis Mažeiks, the Head of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova.

Veaceslav Cunev, president of the National Association of Private ICT Companies ATIC, said that Moldova showed what a country can do to digitize and promote the IT sector, regardless of the origin, beliefs, nationality and expertise areas. “It’s clear that information technology does not have borders. All the IT tasks can be applied everywhere in the world and can be described as talent, favorable environment, tolerance, technology, traceability,” stated the entrepreneur.

In the summit, there will be announce the new digitals services conceived for Moldova to remain among the leading countries with digital public services for the citizens’ benefit and also for having more transparent ties, efficient and open governance for businesses and investments. A Gala to award the winners of the Moldova Innovation Awards 2023 contest will be held at the end of the first summit day, IPN reports.
