The departure of Fujikura from the Moldovan market is the effect of the war in Ukraine, said Prime Minister Dorin Recean, who expressed his regret at the fact that there are yet politicians who deny the effects of the war in the neighboring country. According to the official, despite the state of uncertainty caused by the war, the authorities are trying to attract new investors. New foreign companies are expected to invest soon in Moldova, in the fields of energy, infrastructure and electronics, IPN reports.

Premier Recean blamed the departure of Fujikura from the Republic of Moldova on the war in Ukraine. The head of government assured that a large part of the employees who worked at Fujikura found other jobs.

“I regret that there are politicians who deny the effects of the Kremlin’s war in Ukraine. This departure is due to the feeling of insecurity and, correspondingly, the parent company instructed that all orders that previously came to the Republic of Moldova be placed elsewhere. We continue to work very hard to attract other investors. Most of the people who worked there got employed at other similar companies, which have a shortage of manpower,” Dorin Recean stated in the program “Secrets of the Power” on JurnalTV channel.

The official noted that the departure of Fujikura is offset by the coming of other investors to the Republic of Moldova or by the augmentation of the staff of companies that already exist on the market. In the next period, new foreign companies intend to invest in the Republic of Moldova.

“Over the past 18 months, a number of companies came to the Republic of Moldova. I compiled a list: Erich Jaeger of Romania, Lear Corporation increased the number of employees, Amdaris, which expanded its operations, and others. Therefore, people who lost their jobs can get a job at other companies. In the next period, I think we will have new investors, most probably in the energy, infrastructure and electronics sectors. I will not anticipate, but this will follow,” said the official.

A few months ago, the Japanese company Fujikura, which operated in the field of production of wiring harnesses for the automotive sector, withdrew from the Republic of Moldova. Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, Fujikura had reduced the number of employees from 1,200 to 200 and then permanently stopped work.
