Prime Minister Dorin Recean condemns the armed attack on his Slovak counterpart, Robert Fico. In a post on X, the head of the Moldovan Government said he was “deeply saddened” by the news of the incident involving Prime Minister Robert Fico, adding that “political violence should not take place in our societies”.
Dorin Recean says she wishes Robert Fico a speedy and full recovery. “Our thoughts are with the people of Slovakia in this difficult time”, Prime Minister Dorin Recean wrote.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, 59, suffered life-threatening injuries on Wednesday when he was shot in an assassination attempt in the middle of the street after a government meeting in the northern town of Handlova, east of the capital Bratislava. A suspect was arrested at the scene.
Robert Fico is a conservative social democrat and close to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
