The shortage of funds, lack of culture among people, non-functionality of the Chisinau Municipal Council and the weather conditions are the main factors that cause problems in Chisinau municipality, Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said in the program “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
“Such a situation has existed for 70 years. We cannot change it in several days, especially with such a budget as ours. We have money only for covering current maintenance costs. It is so after winter. There is dirt, holes and the markings are not as evident. It was winter and we can do nothing. We do what we can,” stated the mayor.
Dorin Chirtoaca said the blame is also borne by the unconscious people and the Chisinau Municipal Council, which is not functional. “They park the vehicles where they find a place. I don’t think that withdrawing the license plates is a solution. This is humiliating for the police. The law should be amended so that it is as in the civilized states, where the cars parked illegally are transported away, while the costs should be covered by drivers. We cannot build the multistory car park in central Chisinau, as we promised earlier. Can we do something with such a Council? CMC is not functional,” he stated.
Dorin Chirtoaca also said that changes are made concerning the alimentation of children in kindergartens in Chisinau, while the situation is not as dramatic as some try to present it. “Can you tell how many cases of mass poisoning were reported in kindergartens?” he asked.
The mayor noted that things in Chisinau go better. The roads were and continue to be repaired, while 200 of 300 trolleybuses are new.
