Dorin Chirtoaca – victim of election fraud scheme

One of the front-runners in the Chisinau mayoral race became the victim of an election fraud scheme operated by competitors only several days before election day. On Thursday morning, the media institutions received a press release allegedly signed by the Liberal Party, which announced Dorin Chirtoaca’s withdrawal from the race for personal reasons, which will be made public after the elections. Regretfully, until the news of Info-Prim Neo was published, Chirtoaca could not be found. Later, it was found that the news is a disinformation scenario. At the last elections for the Chisinau Mayor Office in 2005, Dorin Chirtoaca collected 25.1% of the popular vote, managing to win the second place. At the same time, the recent opinion polls name him as one of the front-runners.
