The candidate of the Liberal Party for the mayoralty of Chisinau on June 26 announced he will sue the Party of Socialists’ candidate for mayor Zinaida Grecheanyi and Socialist MP Ion Ceban for disseminating untrue information about the price of a new trolleybus. In a press briefing near the Triumphal Arch in Chisinau, the Liberal candidate said he will seek damages in the form of 100 trolleybuses in court, IPN reports.
“It is evident that all the false statements made in the current campaign disgust everyone. Initially I decided to ignore them, but they exceeded any limit and things can no longer be ignored or remedied by a compromise,” said the current mayor of Chisinau.
According to Dorin Chirtoaca, the Socialist MP Ion Ceban in a TV program broadcast live said the Chisinau City Hall buys trolleybuses at a much too high price at a time when the real price of a new trolleybus is €90,000. He asked verifying this information and received an official answer from the company “Škoda”, where it is said that a trolleybus costs €420,000 to €600,000.
“We will seek damages in the form of 100 trolleybuses for Chisinau municipality so that they stop telling lies ever, while we will continue to assemble trolleybuses at the price of about €150,000, which is the lowest in the region,” stated Chirtoaca, adding he will go to court today or tomorrow.
