Dorin Chirtoaca presents report to local councilors

The Chisinau City Hall achieved results despite the budget deficit, Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said. At the request of the leader of the Communist faction in the Municipal Council Valery Pavlov, he presented a report to the councilors on October 29, Info-Prim Neo reports. “When I became a mayor, the Chisinau administration had a debt of 500 million lei left by the previous administration,” the mayor said, stressing that this debt was paid. Dorin Chirtoaca also said that during 2007-2008 the salaries in the budgetary sector had been raised by 20%, while the food ration in schools – by 30%. There were fitted up three lakes, recreational areas and about 40 playgrounds. “We restored order and the services and subdivisions do not exceed the budget limits approved by the Council,” the mayor said. Speaking about investments, Dorin Chirtoaca said the local authorities finished the construction of two apartment buildings designed for socially vulnerable groups of people and of the road to Vaduleni settlement, which forms part of the municipality. He informed the councilors that among the future priorities are to initiate dwelling programs, implement institutional reforms, complete the mud processing project until next summer, built a waste recycling plant and hold a contest to invite tenders for reconstructing the recreational area “Valea Morilor”. Asked by Valery Pavlov why the City Hall does not organize auctions to sell plots, Dorin Chirtoaca said that the land will not be sold, but leased out for 20-50 years so that it remains municipal property. Communist councilor Stefan Crudu said that the mayor has not appropriately fulfilled his duties, accusing him of ignoring the affairs of the municipality during the electoral campaigns. This is the second time this year that Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca reports on the work of the local administration. The first report was presented in August, two years after his appointment. Then, the mayor presented a report in the central public garden, in front of the Chisinau residents.
