“What the hell …” – this is how Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca reacted when he was informed by the municipal police chief Silviu Musuc that the bar set up on Ciocarliei St was not removed. The police cannot take down the bars placed on public roads, but only ensure the public order and ask the owner to remove them, Silviu Musuc said at Monday's meeting of the City Hall, Info-Prim Neo reports. Dorin Chirtoaca became stupefied when he found out that the bar continues to be there and no police report was drawn up as the owner was not identified. “What the hell... How can we escape from the morass? What we discovered is only the tip of the iceberg. They set up bars, hide like thieves and the police say they do not know who the owners are. What shall the ordinary people do if Mister Voronin is allowed to do what he wants? Shall they also break the law?” Dorin Chirtoaca asked. According to the mayor, the property of the son of the former head of state Oleg Voronin in 90 ares in area, of his sister is as large, while of Vladimir Voronin occupies the rest of the 4 hectares of land. Three weeks ago, Dorin Chirtoaca instructed the traffic police to take down the bar situated on Ciocarliei St so as to allow access to the street where the son of the former Communist President lives. The plot on which the bar was set up was leased for a period of three years and a half, but the lease says nothing about the placement of the bar. Dorin Chirtoaca said he does not understand the position of the Ministry of the Interior in this case, stressing he will invite officials of the Ministry of the Interior to a joint meeting to discuss the situation. There are 18 bars in Chisinau that have been put illegally. The police continue to look for the owners. Silviu Musuc said the bars are the problem of the local administration. Last week, he said the police informed six owners that the bars should be removed within 10-15 days.
