The suspended mayor of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoaca has officially began his election campaign, running for a third consecutive term. He said that Chisinau now looks differently compared with 2007, when he came to the City Hall, IPN reports.
“In 2007, Chisinau was an unpleasantly smelling place that smelt of communism too. During these years, we managed to change the situation. Chisinau was close to bankruptcy, full of debts and with all the services destroyed. We managed to resuscitate it. Today Chisinau does not smell unpleasantly. What we did until now we did from our hearts for the city and its residents,” Dorin Chirtoaca said before the supporters attending the event.
The Liberal Party’s candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau noted that their slogan in the current campaign is “The mayor who does concrete things. The team that does concrete things. The party that does concrete things”. He noted that there are yet many things to be done and he has the team with which he can do them, but the Liberal Party needs overwhelming support in the local general elections for this to happen.
According to Dorin Chirtoacă, priority during his third tenure will be given to the creation of new jobs, insulation of buildings and financing of education institutions so that the parents do not need to pay for particular things in the education process. The suburban settlements will be helped to further develop the transport infrastructure, so that the traffic to Chisinau is fluidized, and the local social services.
The candidate stated that another priority of his will be to abrogate all the Chisinau Council’s decisions by which the placement of kiosks and billboards was authorized. In urbanism, he intends to introduce planning before construction, as it is in the European cities.
Dorin Chirtoaca ends the list of candidates on the ballot for the Chisinau mayoral elections of June 14.
