“The fate of the Republic of Moldova is indeed decided today. We either all have a new, bright fate or remain in this mist that covered Moldova this morning again,” the president of the Liberal Party Dorin Chirtoacă, who ran for President on behalf of the UNION Electoral Block in the first round of elections, stated when going out of the polling station, IPN reports.

Dorin Chirtoacă said that members of the electoral bureau of the polling station where he voted told him that no person got COVID-19 there after the first round. This shows that the rules are respected and the elections can take place safely.

The politician noted the people should not be afraid of the alleged clashes as those reports of the last two weeks were misleading and those lies can be stopped by taking part in voting.

Polling stations in Moldova are open between 7am and 9pm. In the runoff vote, the elections are declared valid regardless of the voter turnout. The candidate with the highest score is declared winner. If both of the candidates get the same score, the candidate who gained more votes in the first round emerges victorious.
