The referendum on the dismissal of the mayor general of Chisinau municipality is initiated by those who did nothing for the capital city, Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca stated in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.
“Those who initiated the referendum are political opponents who haven’t yet accepted the thought that they lost, even if it has been a year since the elections already. I was elected a year ago and must work during the next three years to fulfill my obligations. For me, this referendum is a false subject. The real subjects are those that are related to the people’s interests,” said Dorin Chirtoaca.
The mayor of Chisinau accused the local councilors who are for his dismissal of not carrying out their duties. “I did a lot for Chisinau. No mayor has done so much so far. I’m ready to report on each project. Instead of combining forces for the people’s benefit, for solving the problems faced in the capital city, they organize referendums. It’s clear that the Kremlin also has interests here. They admitted this themselves,” he stated.
Dorin Chirtoaca also said that he will comply with the people’s will. “I’m ready to appear before the people. As many as 165,000 residents of Chisinau voted for me. They are those who should assess my work,” noted the mayor.
