The president of the Liberal Party Dorin Chirtoacă is the Union Political Movement’s candidate for MP in single-member constituency No. 38 Hâncești, where new parliamentary elections will take place on March 15. The announcement was made by representatives of the movement in Hânceșt on January 22, IPN reports.
In a meeting of representatives of the administration and of the local offices of the parties that formed the Union Political Movement, it was decided to field Dorin Chirtoacă as a candidate in this constituency. The Liberal leader said that an initiative group was formed and its members will go to the Electoral Council of Hâncești District on January 23 to ask for the supporter signature sheets.
Two days ago, the Central Election Commission registered the Union Electoral Bloc as a contender in the new parliamentary elections in single-member constituency No. 38 Hâncești. The bloc consists of the five parties that formed the Union Political Movement, namely the Liberal Party, the Democracy at Home Party, the National Liberal Party, the Romanian People’s Party and the Save Bessarabia Union.
Six parties have announced their candidates for MP in Hâncești so far. Vitalie Balinschi was nominated by the Shor Party, Mihai Druță by the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”, Ștefan Gaţcan by the Party of Socialists, Ion Mereuță by the Democratic Party, Vlad Țurcanu by the National Unity Party and Olesea Stamate by the Action and Solidarity Party.
The CEC set new parliamentary elections in Hâncești for March 15 after Democratic MP Alexandru Botnari renounced the seat won in this constituency in favor of the post of mayor of the municipality of Hâncești in the November 3 runoffs.
