Dorin Chirtoaca discusses AEI situation in Brussels

Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, who is also vice president of the Liberal Party, discussed with European officials during his official visit to Brussels issues concerning current political developments in Moldova, the situation within the Alliance for European Integration (AEI), the AEI's relationship with the opposition and also Moldova's European aspirations. The mayor is making an official visit to Brussels during April 28 and 29, the Chisinau City Hall said in a press release. Dorin Chirtoaca had meetings with MEPs, representatives of the European Commission and the European Council. He also met with officials from Eurocities, a network of major European cities comprising Vienna, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Dublin, Prague, Strasbourg, Tallinn, Budapest, etc. The mayor discussed with his interlocutors issues concerning city development in various fields, including waste management, transportation, environmental issues, energy efficiency, investment and social protection. Dorin Chirtoaca stated that Europe's message to Moldova was that Chisinau should further follow its European integration aspirations on both central and local level. Chirtoaca concluded that the AEI should give priority to advancing reforms, solving the constitutional deadlock and promoting European integration, despite all difficulty.
