Dorin Chirtoaca designated PL’s candidate for mayor of Chisinau

Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca presented a report on the work done in 2007-2011 in the central garden’s Europe Square on April 17. The same day, the Liberal Party (PL) nominated officially Dorin Chirtoaca for mayor for the second tenure, Info-Prim Neo reports. The mayor was accompanied by colleagues from the PL and City Hall officials. He said that during four years they managed to solve many problems despite the obstacles placed in their path. Among the accomplishments, he mentioned the removal of the unpleasant smell emitted by the Wastewater Treatment Station, the launch of the First House Program, the purchase of 102 new trolleybuses, the creation of 10,000 new workplaces, the repayment of debts of over 700,000 lei, the laying out of Valea Morilor Park that is nearing completion. Dorin Chirtoaca said that they intend to continue the programs aimed at rehabilitating the public transport, extending the water supply and sewerage systems, building attic-like apartments, and to buy about 10,000 apartments within the First House Program. According to the mayor, a priority is to repair about 50 kilometers of road in Chisinau every year. Dorin Chirtoaca was elected Mayor General of Chisinau municipality in June 2007. He polled over 60% of the vote.
