Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said he does not own real estate in the Pipera quarter in Bucharest, as the media reported. After the May 7 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, the mayor said that he does no even know very well that quarter. During the six years that he studied at the faculty and the two years that he worked in Bucharest, he had been at most twice in Pipera, IPN reports.

“Besides the house in Colonita and an apartment, I have nothing more. The apartment was bought on mortgage and is not yet in my name. I tell my enemies to calm down as they will find nothing else. What I own is enough for me,” said the mayor.

Dorin Chirtoaca also said that those who spread such rumors should apologize and avoid being sued. He stressed that if he goes to court, he will ask about 100 trolleybuses for the city.

According to the mayor, his uncle Mihai Ghimpu, who heads the Liberal Party, has a two-room apartment in Chisinau and is going to change it for a three-room one. “He lived all his life in a two-room apartment and will now move to an apartment with three rooms. Sometimes I reach the conclusion that it’s better not to be honest in politics,” he stated.
