The Liberal Party’s candidate for mayor general of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoaca congratulated the residents of Chisinau on the results of the second round of local elections from a studio of the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.
“It is the residents of Chisinau municipality who won. It is now the development course of Chisinau that counts. This means that we will continue the European development of Chisinau. This means that we will lay the basis of Moldova’s European development,” stated Chirtoaca.
He admitted that he narrowly won the mayoral elections in Chisinau. “I would like to have won by 60 – 70% of the vote. It was also the protest vote. There were people who voted for me even if they are dissatisfied. I want to meet those who are dissatisfied and to try and correct what made them be dissatisfied. Anyway, I want to thank all those who made an effort and cast their ballots. There were persons who came even from abroad to vote,” said Chirtoaca.
Dorin Chirtoaca thanked also his opponent Zinaida Grecheanyi. “I appreciate her courage. For a woman, participation in such elections it is something remarkable. But the lawsuit over those 100 trolleybuses will be yet continued,” he stated.
