The Republic of Poland will continue to support the European path of the Republic of Moldova. Prime Minister Donald Tusk made statements in this regard in the plenary session of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.

Premier Tusk stressed that the Republic of Poland will continue to support Moldova’s European path. “You can always count on Poland and you should only express the desire to continue this historical process of building an independent Moldova integrated into a strong and united Europe,” he added.

In his speech, Donald Tusk told about the experience of Poland, which has been part of the European family for 20 years. “You are faced with an important choice that Poland made 20 years ago. Joining the European Union was one of the smartest choices Poles have made in history, and it was beneficial in every way. And it’s not about political visions, but about real life, and Poland, year after year, witnesses economic successes. I came before you as a devoted friend and a loyal friend in the efforts for a safe, sovereign and prosperous Moldova,” stated the Polish official.

For his part, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu noted that the Republic of Moldova is going through a historical period and is facing the most important decision since independence. “I trust that we will make the right choice because we all want to live in peace at home. We feel that on this path we have true friends, and Poland is a friend on which we can rely,” said Igor Grosu.

The official also said that the Republic of Moldova feels the support of Poland not only at the political level, but also at the level of its wine producers and farmers, who are glad that the Moldovan wines and fruit reach the tables of Poles and the shelves of Polish stores. “The Republic of Moldova delayed joining the European family for too long. So, we are confident that, being supported by our European partners, we will succeed. Your support shows us that we are on the right path and encourages us to move forward,” stated Speaker Grosu.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland Donald Tusk visited Moldova on September 4. He had meetings with Prime Minister Dorin Recean and President Maia Sandu.
