In a meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip, President of the European Council Donald Tusk encouraged the Moldovan authorities to ensure progress in doing reforms, including in the banking sector, so as to restore the foreign partners’ confidence and the people’s confidence in the state institutions, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, Donald Tusk assured that the EU will assist the Republic of Moldova in doing reforms and in achieving its European aspirations.

For his part, Pavel Filip reiterated the Government’s determination to do all the required reforms, even the unpopular ones.  He noted that the European integration is the country project of the Republic of Moldova and the current government will be making every effort to achieve this objective and to ensure decent living conditions. He also spoke about the relations with the IMF with which a cooperation agreement is to be signed this October.

The meeting of Pavel Filip and Donald Tusk, held on the sidelines of the ordinary session of the UN General Assembly in New York, was a good occasion for exchanging opinions on the developments on the European continent, including in the Eastern Partnership countries.
