The chairman of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon on September 23 presented 25,000 signatures collected in favor of his registration as a runner in the October 30 presidential elections to the Central Election Commission. According to the Socialist leader, the initiative group collected about 500,000 signatures overall, IPN reports.
“In this pre-election campaign, we didn’t hurry. We were calm and serious, like a solid party. Our possibilities enabled us to collect over 500,000 signatures during three weeks. Our objective was to go from home to home to discuss with the people,” said Igor Dodon.
The politician also said that the members of the initiative group discussed with people from over 100 communities. “We saw that we have real chances of winning by the first round. If the second round of voting is held, we will win by the second round,” stated the leader of the PSRM.
So far the CEC has registered four persons as candidates for the presidency, namely: Marian Lupu (PDM), Mihai Ghimpu (PL), Iurie Leanca (PPEM), and Andrei Nastase (PPDA).
Signatures to the CEC were also submitted by the candidates of the Movement “Ravnopravie” Inna Popenko, the Party “Action and Solidarity” Maia Sandu and of the Political Party “Our Party” Dumitru Chubashenko.
The subscription lists with signatures can be presented by September 29 inclusive.
