Socialist Party leader Igor Dodon is considering running for Mayor of Chisinau, an announcement he made at a talk-show on PRO TV.
Dodon said his party would certainly field a candidate in the mayoral race next year. “We will put forward a strong and well prepared candidate. It could be me. It’s about time we start pulling Chisinau out of the mire it has been driven into”, said Igor Dodon.
On a different note, Dodon said the Socialist MPs received a special invitation from the Russian Duma to visit, which they intend to do in January.
To date, the incumbent Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, the former Mayor Serafim Urechean and the municipal councilman Victor Gurau have voiced their intention to run for mayor of the capital.
