Dodon – Chirtoaca: 48.07% – 46.51%

The second round of mayoral elections will take place in the municipality of Chisinau in two weeks. None of the candidates polled more than half of the vote in the June 5 elections. According to the results announced by the Central Election Commission (CEC) after counting 100% of the votes, Igor Dodon earned 48.07% of the ballot, while Dorin Chirtoaca – 46.51%, Info-Prim Neo reports. The other candidates scored the following results: Valentina Buliga – 2.56% of the vote, Mihai Godea – 0.82%, Sergiu Coropceanu – 0.39%, Radu Busila – 0.36%, Oleg Onishchenko – 0.24%, Valery Klimenko – 0.22%, Vitalia Pavlichenko – 0.20%, and Maia Laguta – 0.20%. The results for the Chisinau Municipals Council are as follows: the PCRM – 46.11% of the poll, the PL – 31.82%, the PLDM – 13.99%, and the PDM – 3.13%. Mihai Severovan polled 0.71% of the vote, the PPCD – 0.43%, while the PSD – 0.29%. According to the Central Election Commission, 25.97% of the elected mayors represent the PLDM, 23.78% - the PCRM, 21.67% - the PDM, 11.58% - the PL, 1.13% - the PSD, while 1.04% - the PPCD. 30.25% of the local councilors elected represent the PCRM, 25.52% – the PLDM, 19.56% – the PDM, 11.04% - the PL. The district councilors of the PCRM constitute 32.71%, of the PLDM – 25.83%, of the PDM – 20.23%, of the PL – 11.30%, of the PPCD – 1.43%, while of the PSD – 1.17%. CEC president Iurie Ciocan said local elections were held in 898 settlements. The mayor in 645 of them was elected by one round, while 253 settlements will hold a second round of voting in two weeks. In four settlements, the candidates for mayor polled 50% of the ballot, being short of 1% for winning. Iurie Ciocan also said the Commission received 10 challenges on the election day and two more challenges the next day. The CEC passed decisions on two of them. The rest were sent to court.
