“As two leaders who were supported by most of the people on both sides of the Nistru, we agreed to take measures to solve the problems faced by the ordinary people,” President Igor Dodon said after the meeting with the Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselski, IPN reports.

In a press briefing given in Chisinau on his return from Bender, where he met with the Transnistrian leader, Igor Dodon said the subjects on which Vadim Krasnoselski insisted include the recognition of diplomas issued on the left side of the Nistru, the registration numbers of cars and mobile telephony. For his part, Igor Dodon proposed discussing the farmers’ access to farmland in Dubasari district, the problem of Moldovan-administered Latin-Script schools and the declaring of a number of public functionaries as persona non grata on the left side of the Nistru.

“We reached a consensus on most of these subjects, but, in order to identify concrete solutions, we agreed to adopt a package approach so that not only the interests of one side are dealt with. Thus, expert-level meetings will be held during the next few weeks. We will recommend the Government to contact those from the left side of the Nistru, because there are functional mechanisms in this regard, so that the package approach agreed by the sides and supported in the 5+2 format is accepted as a basis and signed at the level of leaders and concrete steps are taken by both of the sides,” stated Igor Dodon.

He also said he is firmly convinced that the long-awaited beneficial changes will be felt by the people living on both sides of the Nistru during the next few months.
