The National Political Council of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” authorized Andrei Năstase to run for President. The documents for registering the initiative groups in support of Andrei Năstase were submitted to the Central Election Commission on September 1, IPN reports.

In a press briefing, Andrei Năstase said everyone today enters the last, but most important period prior to the November 1 presidential elections. The stake of these elections is so important that it will extensively mark the evolution of society during the years to come. “The national unity ensured around the ACUM Bloc was the astounding force that removed Plahotniuc from power and from the Republic of Moldova. The national unity will make our imminent victories possible,” stated the politician.

According to him, the ACUM Bloc exists and is represented by Moldova’s people who got tired of waiting for changes and decided to become involved and give a responsible vote this autumn.

Under the Election Code, the initiative groups for supporting candidates for President must consist of at least 25 persons and at most 100 persons with the right to vote. The group is formed as a result of an assembly where the candidate for President of the Republic of Moldova is nominated, the group leader is chosen and the list of group members is approved. The initiative group can support only one candidate for President. The members of the initiative group cannot be simultaneously members of another initiative group.

The CEC within three days examines the file and takes a decision as to the registration or non-registration of the initiative group.

The election runners can start to campaign only after they are registered by the CEC.
